The MINI John Cooper Works GP is a limited-edition model with a run of just 2000 units worldwide. This fast road and track focused performance edition is a celebration before the new MINI variant arrives. Featured here is the second generation GP (GP2), based on the R56 chassis.
The GP2 features additional performance to a standard John Cooper Works (JCW), with 218bhp and 280nm of torque. This comes from a larger turbo, revised engine internals, a freer flowing down-pipe and exhaust.
MINI didn’t stop there. They included larger front brakes with 6-pot calipers developed by Brembo, adjustable coilover suspension by Bilstein, lightweight wheels, semi-slick tyres developed by Kumho specifically for the GP, a rear diffuser and carbon kevlar flat under-tray, carbon fibre rear spoiler, ‘GP Mode’ traction control switch, and weight saving by the removal of the rear seats and fitting of Recaro sports seats.
All 2000 units were produced in the same specification, and just over 200 examples remained in the UK.
This particular 2013 model is currently for sale at Brundall Motor Company and has an unique history. This well known GP2 was originally owned by Simon Cowell and given away by him on the X-FACTOR Show in December 2014, having covered 600 miles. This GP has a very low mileage of just 14,000 miles.
